Got a 2005 CBR600RR and was tweaking the auto choke to fix a high idle. After putting it all back together, it starts fine but the rpm jumps to 2000 to like 2500 for a few seconds before settling. If I unplug the airbox connector, it starts smooth with no spike. Just wondering, what does that connector actually do, is the rpm jump normal, and is it okay to leave it unplugged?

That connector likely runs the IAT sensor, which helps manage fuel-air mix and unplugging it may cause long-term issues. The RPM spike's somewhat normal, but double-check idle settings and vacuum leaks
Got it, thanks for clearing that up. I'll check for any vacuum leaks and go over the idle settings just in case. When you say long term issues from unplugging it , are we talking more about fuel efficiency and performance, or could it actually cause damage to the engine over time?
